14. Karen is a fat fatty fat fat
Yeah, the week’s not over. However, I did go shopping twice for wedding and work gear. Here are my findings:
1. I have gone up a cup size. I will not disclose what it was before, or what it is now. Suffice to say, if mother got to an E with us adorable kids, I will be wearing something custom made and containing a lot of whalebones by the end of it all. I shall creak like the rigging of a large ship under heavy winds, and random children will use my overhang as shelter from the rain.
2. I have gone up a waist size. Already. I haven’t gone up clothes sizes since I was like… 17. I’m tempted to see how far I can push it, but one size is depressing enough. Theoretically I could just buy Oz-made clothes from here on out, cause they seem to fit a size bigger than the NZ ones. Cunning plan.
3. After trying on the work pants and jeans I was wearing 2 weeks ago, I am left with the following options:
i. My sloppy stretchy jeans with the frayed cuffs that I try not to wear in polite company.
ii. 2 pairs of work pants that do up while I am standing. I am trying to decide how much strain the buttons will endure when I sit. Loud pinging noises and buttons in the eyes may possibly irk the co-workers.
iii. 1 pair of work pants that have ties and so can be knotted closed even under great duress.
iv. The linen pants I just bought in an undisclosed larger size.
v. The cargo pants that started off far too loose in the waist and are now simply ‘loose’.
vi. Various PJ and trackpants.
I call it a win – at least I won’t go naked. I am however mildly depressed that the stack of stuff I was wearing 2 weeks ago and now can’t squeeze into is a lot bigger, and contains the jeans I bought only recently and wore most of the time at work.
Yes I knew I would get bigger, I’m not whining about that exactly. I must point out though that it’s still early days, and I am somewhat terrified of how mountainous I might end up. >.>
