23. Karen is still boring
Nothing overly exciting to report from week 23. I had my midwife appointment this morning, and the summarised version is:
- Glen Innes at 8:30am smells of fried fish. Who fries fish at 8:30am?
- BP 110/60 – still.
- Fundal height 23cm. First time this was measured, exciting! It was perfectly normal! >.>
- My weight is the same as it was a month ago, 0.5kg gain total. WTH? Sam reckons the spawn is doing its parasitic thing and because I can’t physically eat that much, everything I ingest is going to it and not my ass. So basically, it’s stealing my life force. Start as you mean to go on.
- Alien’s heartbeat is 130-135bpm – first time I’ve actually been told what it is. Not that it makes a difference: as long as there’s one heart and it’s beating, I’m sweet.
- First wee-on-stick test - which of course came back with no unusual results whatsoever (ie, no glucose or protein)
- In 3 1/2 weeks I have to go do my glucose test thingy for gestational diabetes, followed by the next midwife appointment. The test will end up being earlier than the usual 28 weeks, but only because she wants the results back before the next appointment. Which is fair enough.
- I got warned on the signs of premature labour. Good lord, she must be bored measuring my consistently low BP or something. I’m only 23 weeks, I don’t want to be hearing the L word.
Other than that, we’ve started cleaning out the spare room, slowly. But now I’m thinking we might need to move somewhere with a little more space, and where the laundry isn’t down what is essentially a ladder. What with the impending necessity of doing more than 2 loads a week. >.>
As for me, I am starting to have trouble bending over now. That’s new and different. I usually quite enjoy bending; I think I will miss it.
